Bolton Wanderers – Liverpool | 1-2 | A dramatic comeback sends Reds through

Coutinho WOW !

In a day where a second division club spent £11 for a striker, £8.5 Million is what the fleet-footed Brazilian cost us, and days like these make us realise what a bargain we pulled off. He shimmed left than right, danced around the defenders, left them grasping thin air and with one swing of his gifted right foot completed his and Liverpool’s turnaround from disappointment to utter jubilance. He is truly a Magician.

Lucas Leiva, Emre Can and the Space between Defenders

Liverpool missed Lucas today, apart from all the tackling and closing down, one thing Lucas is really good at is covering the space produced when the defence gets stretched and Allen or Gerrard couldn’t fill that gap, time and again Bolton found space when Sakho or Can went to close down, one such instance found Eidur Gudjohnsen inside the box who’s shot flew high above the bar, a few yards lower and it might have been a different story.

In a different perspective Lucas’s injury today might be a blessing in disguise, he has his shortcomings Lucas, Shooting and Passing to name a few, how many times have we seen him arrive late and sidefoot a shot harmlessly into the keeper’s chest from the edge of the box and Emre Can might be the perfect upgrade in that position, Big, Strong, loves a tackle (remember Bernabeu ?) and more importantly he can pass and shoot too, a peach of a ball for sterling’s equalizer and a thunderous drive from his weaker foot that would have nestled in the top corner but for a brilliant save from the Bolton keeper.

Scorers: Bolton – Eidur Gudjohnsen (59′) | Liverpool – Raheem Sterling (86′), Philippe Coutinho(90+’)
